FAMILY PICNIC 2000

Saturday, July 8, 2000
Lake Compounce Theme Park

Up, down, around, sideways, fast, slow, wet or dry, or hanging face down from 50 feet up - you could have it whatever way you dared at our family picnic this year!  Thrill seekers had a host of choices to make in how to subject their bodies to gravity and centrifugal force.  Some of the less daring (or shall we say more conservative) folks took in the sights by trolley, train ride, or strolling about the park.

Over one thousand tickets were sold for the event held July 8th this year at New England's family theme park.  The weather turned out great for our members and their families who converged upon Lake Compounce in Bristol/Southington, CT read for lots of food and action.  After picking up a commemorative T-shirt at the entrance, many of us headed for the three shaded food pavilions for the all-you-can eat feast offered from noon to 2:30 p.m.

There was lots of food and fun for everyone at our picnic, and quite a few MDA-UAW members and some of their children conveyed their appreciation for the event to the union office.  All your comments were appreciated by the officers who really enjoyed seeing everyone happy and having a great time!  We'll see you back there next summer - Be sure to save July 14th.
