FAMILY PICNIC 1999

It's all but a fading summer memory now, but it was fun! Our annual Local 571 family picnic at the Sunrise Resort in Moodus, CT was held on July 18, 1999. More than 500 people - retirees, members and their families - turned out to enjoy a warm, pleasant day at the resort.

The barbecue area buzzed with people sampling chowder, chili, chicken, and other delicious dishes. And anxious raffle participants downed their lunches at picnic tables while junior announcers called out the winning numbers.

Claiming their prizes were: Reggie Neto and his wife,
winner of the first prize, a 27" color TV

Other winners include: Ted Coderre, owner of a new microwave oven; Mike Regan, recipient of a gas grill; Brian Mock, Tom Abran, and Ed Freeman picked up Igloo coolers. Rich Labarre and Bob Rossi left with new mag lights. A garden hose went to Charlie Woods and a Kitchen Aide mixer to Shawn Castleberry. "Dinner for Two" tickets from the Groton Inn & Suites were presented to Jim Furr and Bob Best.

All the ingredients, once again, came together for the makings of a good time for those who attended - good food, friends, and facilities - and the price sure couldn't be beat! Thanks goes to our union leadership who put it all together and made it happen.

Set aside the date of July 8, 2000 for our picnic at Lake Compounce Theme Park in Bristol/Southington, CT. We expect our millennium picnic to be the greatest. This park has it all!
