Key Highlights of the UAW Local 571 Contract Agreement (1999-2002)

Wages

6% cash payment to all members effective 08/01/99.
4% general wage increase of member's regular base rate effective 08/06/00.
4% general wage increase of member's regular base rate effective 08/05/01.

SSIP

Effective January 2, 2000 increase rate cap on 6% maximum contribution on member's base earnings from $20.00 per hour to $25.00 per hour.

Option 8 ($1 for $1) investment option effective August 5, 2001.

Retirement Plan:

$5.00 pension increase effective 08/01/99.
$4.00 bridging increase from $16.00 to $20.00 effective 08/01/99.

Medical Plan

Compass plan remains in effect.

Effective January 1, 2000 the "gatekeeper" requirement to obtain a referral from a primary care physician (PCP) prior to seeing a specialist is eliminated.

Office visit co-payment change:
Primary Care Physician:  from $15.00/visit to $10.00/visit.
Specialist Care Physician: from $15.00/visit to $25.00/visit.

Prescription Drug Co-payments:

Effective January 1, 2000 the co-payment for prescription drugs obtained at a network pharmacy is $7.00 generic/$20.00 brand name prescriptions.

New Vision Plan:

Effective January 1, 2000 implementation of voluntary group enrollment vision plan.

Dental Plan Changes:

Effective January 1, 2000, a 10% fee schedule improvement.
Effective January 1, 2001, a 10% fee schedule improvement.
Effective January 1, 2002, a 10% fee schedule improvement.

Effective January 1, 2000 lifetime maximum for orthodontia increase from $1500 to 1750.

A&S Benefit:

Graduated increases to $350/week by January 1, 2002.

Tax Advantages:

Effective 12/26/99, all of the member's contributions for medical and dental plans are made on a pre-tax basis.
